Ad-ictive Marc Jacobs & Marc by Marc Jacobs

For years Juergen Teller has been in charge of shooting the ad campaigns for both Marc by Marc Jacobs and Marc Jacobs. This season the lucky ones to be in them are no more and no less than teenage fashion icon Elle Fanning and (curiously) anti-fashion icon Helena Bonham Carter. The images are hauntingly beautiful as always; Teller's style has made of Marc Jacobs' campaigns a real delight through the years. But what about the stars in them? In first instance, Elle Fanning is a natural choice. This year she has turned into a real fashion icon, dressing up as we would like to be dressing. Only days ago she went to her first Couture show in Paris (Chanel) dressed head to toe in Chanel, accessorizing with a little Diana camera in red. How cute is that!? The girl appears behind trees and hair with those lovely doe eyes. I can picture her perfectly wearing all of the Marc by Marc Jacobs looks.

In the other hand Helena Bonham Carter turned out to be a fairly good choice. Why? Well, the woman is not afraid of wearing anything, and she's got character as she shows it in the photos. A little bit eccentric, maybe, but her fun and outrageous personality work just fine in this voyeuristic photographs. She shows the collection in humorous ways; this collection was one of my favorites, the materials, the silhouettes, the dots! There was something quite fetishistic- chic in this Marc Jacobs collection, but somehow in the campaign this all seemed to be tone down with whimsicality. Which one do you like more?
