Read now

I decided to go book shopping today, I wasn’t supposed to buy anything but… I have a strong weakness for books….

Today’s acquisitions:

Haruki Murakami’s After Dark. Thanks to Neon Delirium I decided I should read this book ASAP.

The ABC of Photography, Phaidon. Insanely in love with this book.

Publicity is dead, Long life to publicity! Blume. This is the best book in ground breaking publicity I’ve found, it describes all the new techniques for publicity, and they are incredibly creative. There’s even an installation related to water scarcity and it’s identical to the installation I did for my experimental art class last month:

The message was the same, to create awareness about water scarcity and how wasting it is one of the biggest issues in the world.

Moving on, I have incredible news. I’m working in a surprise interview with one of my favorite photographers in the world. She (first clue) was way too kind to be part of MademoiselleKarla and answer some interesting questions for me. I will share the interview with the mysterious photographer this week…. Stay tuned!

Finsk

Ever since I saw the Finsk wedges StyleScrapbook has I was hypnotized. It is not your regular stiletto definitely, it is an amazing deconstruction which at the same time is chaotic and fantastic. The responsible of this beautiful shoes is Julia Lundsten, combining materials such as leather and wood to create her artworks. Here are some

I’m obsessed with this blue and gray wedges… I guess I will look for Finsk next year in London. Long live deconstructed shoes!

Wistful Thinking

Hell, I have tons of things to share. I directed my first fashion short film last week and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. Yesterday we were recording the Foley sounds and it was incredibly fun! The short film is called Wistful Thinking and it talks about obsessions, relationships and that feeling of longing for something we don’t longer own. Here is a preview still from the film:

I had a lot of friends collaborating with me in this film, including my dearest friend NeonDelirium who did all the styling; he did an amazing job! I hope I can share it with you soon, I’m very fond of this project.

Moving on, I want to share with you some of this week’s inspirational stuff.

Still Life painting, which was one of the visual references of the short film.

Sofia Ajram photos… I love the constellations reference, see more of her work here.

Ana Gonzalez’ fashion label, ANA LOCKING. Love the fabrics, the color feast, the contrast between fabrics, the patchwork, the minimalist details, the jewelry and everything else.

Acid trip. Psychedelic. Tons of colors and feathers. All I want to wear for summer. I found this images at RosaClavelRosa my new favorite fashion blog. The blogger is Annia Ezquerro who is a Mexican stylist and bag designer, and she writes about her favorite editorial spreads, colors and images that influence her and inspire her. You seriously need to check it out. Visit her here.

Photographies peintes

François Marie Barnier is not just a photographer. He has proved that being an artist doesn’t mean anymore focusing in a sole discipline. It is experimenting with your imagination and with the possibilities of creation. With his talent, he has created the most beautiful photographs I’ve seen. The combination between painting and photography has made of his work unique. The selection of colors and the movements of the paintbrush gives the photography its true essence, portraying specific emotions such as happiness, melancholy or even desperation.

He photographed and paint Natalia Vodianova for Diane Von Furstenberg’s SS 08 ad campaign using various techniques, from paint writing to huge brushes.

Here is the behind the scenes video for the shoot with Natalia for DVF, a beautiful insight! C'est l'art!
