Dreamscapes, Joshua Datu

It’s magical when we found something fantastic in the middle of daily life chaos. Everyday I crave for this magical escape, something that can transport me to a place that doesn’t exist, a creation of the subconscious. At least, that’s what I think from these pictures. The photographer and artist is talented Joshua Datu, who was inspired by surreal things like the Aurora Borealis to create the Dreamscapes series. I find his work incredibly idyllic, a mixture between abstraction and fantasy, almost as if it was an experiment with people’s dreams.

Corredor Condesa Roma

Sicario, Rosetta, Goodbye Folk, Neon Delirium, etc.

On Saturday I went to the Corredor Condesa-Roma, an event which intends to promote the area by opening the doors of art galleries, restaurants, and fashion boutiques and make the experience of it special. I enjoyed it a lot, photographing very stylish people, visiting stores like Sicario, Goodbye Folk, Vintage Hoe, etc. and having a great time with my friends and colleagues. If you ever visit Mexico City in August you need to come to Corredor Condesa Roma, you’ll find incredible things and have the best time.

Coco goes rainbow

Coco Rocha looks amazingly beautiful in this colorful shoot by photographer Craig McDean (one of my favorites!). I’m a big fan of Coco and I love the experiment with the gels haha. This is such a colorful way to start the day….

In other news, I’m very happy to announce that I’m part of Coolhunter Mexico, a website dedicated to street style and fashion news. It is incredible to work with such talented people. There are lots of projects I soon will share with you, meanwhile you can visit Coolhunter here and my first article here. Have a great day!

Miss Lara Stone

September is definitely the month of Lara. I have to say she is one of my favorite models nowadays. Her resemblance with Brigitte Bardot is unbelievable, but most important she has reset the standards of beauty in the fashion world, proving that a woman with curves is even sexier (just like Doutzen). Lara is know for being incredibly polifacetic, being able to exploit her sexual allure and at the same time look like a refine lady á la Mad Men.

Black Swan

Rodarte + Aronofsky + Ballet + Natalie Portman + Vincent Cassel + lots and lots of drama …. I can go on finding reasons why Black Swan is going to be AMAZING. Not only the Mulleavy sisters designed the ballet costumes but this is a movie directed by DarrenAronofsky, the mind behind Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler. Vincent Cassel, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis star in this wonderful ballet movie, promising to be the new ballet cult movie (do you remember Center Stage?) Hope you are as excited as me.

Prada Fantasy Lookbook

I was more than thrilled when I saw the Prada FW 10 Fantasy Lookbook, graphic design + illustration + fashion = tons and tons of fun! The illustrations were in charge of OMA (Alexander Reichert & Fausto Fantinuoli). The backstage pictures were taken by Phil Meech. OMA also did last Fantasy Lookbook with the beautiful SS 10, combining stripes, colors, rainbows and more with the collection. Now, this time, the FW10 lookbook seems to be a mixture of comic reality and backstage fantasy. This is fun!

Take a Walk: Trendland

Alexander Wang shades + Louboutin shoes + McQueen jacket + your personal touch. Street style has taken over the fashion world. What were once girls and boys with incredible style walking in the street are now the trendsetters of the world. We can’t deny the great influence street style has acquire in the last five years (The Sartorialist anyone?). A lot of designers confess they are addicted to street style blogs and they love seeing how fashion can be expressed in a unique way. We can even dare to say street style bloggers have become photography legends (Scott Schuman, Tommy Ton, Yvan Rodic, Hanneli Mustaparta). And what about blogs of personal style like StyleScrapbook, The Blonde Salad, Chicmuse, just to name a few? They all have become new sources of inspiration. That’s why it’s not weird Trendland has come up with the mini series called Take a Walk, where they “capture(s) the everyday life of the typical New Yorker”, obviously without taking out the element of fashion and showing the very core of street style. It’s amazing to see this can be a new dynamic way of presenting street style; I can’t wait to see the next episode.
