IDM: María Vogel, Details

María Vogel was one of my favorite runways yesterday at IDM. She presented her collection in the runway for new talents, but she proved she has what it takes to be a remarkable designer. The simplicity of the collection in contrast with the jewelry details made this collection a dynamic one as well as very sophisticated. Also, the makeup was the perfect complement for such monochromatic looks, the red lips being the ultimate epitome of chic. Skirts, buttoned blouses and the occasional glimpse of skin between them made me only want for more.

Mexican fashion: IDM

Next week IDM (International Designers Mexico) will take place in Mexico City. This is one of the most important fashion platforms of the country, along with the recently merged DFashion/Mercedes Benz FW. IDM is known for the fresh and modern proposals and for being quite creative. I am very exited to see the work of designers such as Paola Hernández, Nimisnequi, Kris Goyri, Cocolat, Lola de Alejandro, Mancandy and Lorena Saravia just to name a few. I will be covering most of the runways, taking lots of pictures and sharing with you the insights about each collection. I have to say I’m very proud Mexican fashion is growing and that there are innovative platforms to present it such as IDM. It’s going to be an amazing week!

Editorials of the week

I know, it’s just Wednesday, but there has been so many editorials I loved I just couldn’t help it.

Loved the blue-camel palette of the pictures. The use of full shots works incredibly well giving the editorial a fresh and new perspective (it’s something we don’t see as frequent as the model in front of a white background). This is Mathilde Frachon by photographer Lachlan Bailey for Vogue Nippon. With the help of Fashion Editor Beth Fenton, Frachon wears in innocent ways Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and the so coveted Celine.

This editorial photographed by Zig Tesch + Carolina Tesch is amazing in terms of purpose. The images reflect perfectly all of fall’s best trends, from the Miu Miu shoes to Prada’s big hives and long socks. Over sized sweaters, retro looks, sheep jackets, all are here.

Sasha Pivovarova looks wild and fierce in this editorial for September’s Número. Photographed by Greg Kadel, she manages to express a ferocity I haven’t seen in a long time from this young lady. Maybe it’s the rad makeup, or the hair styling but she captivates us with her strong look.

I found this picture (only this one), very pretty from the use of black and white to the graphic design. This is Tanya Dziahileva for September’s Flair, photographed by Eric Guillemain. She looks very rock-star-with-hangover in the whole editorial but in this picture she just looks innocent and beautiful. The light also helps giving her that touch of innocence along with the styling (the long socks again..)

Dreamscapes, Joshua Datu

It’s magical when we found something fantastic in the middle of daily life chaos. Everyday I crave for this magical escape, something that can transport me to a place that doesn’t exist, a creation of the subconscious. At least, that’s what I think from these pictures. The photographer and artist is talented Joshua Datu, who was inspired by surreal things like the Aurora Borealis to create the Dreamscapes series. I find his work incredibly idyllic, a mixture between abstraction and fantasy, almost as if it was an experiment with people’s dreams.

Corredor Condesa Roma

Sicario, Rosetta, Goodbye Folk, Neon Delirium, etc.

On Saturday I went to the Corredor Condesa-Roma, an event which intends to promote the area by opening the doors of art galleries, restaurants, and fashion boutiques and make the experience of it special. I enjoyed it a lot, photographing very stylish people, visiting stores like Sicario, Goodbye Folk, Vintage Hoe, etc. and having a great time with my friends and colleagues. If you ever visit Mexico City in August you need to come to Corredor Condesa Roma, you’ll find incredible things and have the best time.

Coco Rocha looks amazingly beautiful in this colorful shoot by photographer Craig McDean (one of my favorites!). I’m a big fan of Coco and I love the experiment with the gels haha. This is such a colorful way to start the day….
