News, news

Paris Fashion Week is here finally! It's undeniably the most important fashion week and it just started today while we were sleeping... well, in this side of the world at least. So catch up and take a look to Rochas, Dries Van Noten and Gareth Pugh, some of the shows that happened today.

If you have noticed I haven't post on a regular basis it's thanks to my crappy internet which was just canceled by the phone company... but soon I will catch up with the posts so don't worry, there will be plenty of fashion talk later.

In other news, Mercedes Benz DFashion just started on Monday, which is basically the mexican fashion week. There has been interesting proposals like Ale Quesada, Jorge Duque, Paola Hernandez and Pepa Pombo. Chilango has a quick recap and you can see some runway photos in VogueMX too.

Burberry's Craftsmanship

Yesterday the Burberry Prorsum show took place in Hyde Park, London. For all of us who were watching the HD stream, before the show, a video with amazing closeups was projected. It was the Craftsmanship film which showed the extraordinary techniques that each piece of the collection needed in order to be created. You can see sketches of the garments, Bailey in action and the detailed textures of this Spring collection which was all about tribal, quite a big trend for next season.

New In: Books

Yesterday I went book shopping, god, I really love to buy books, almost as much as shoes... Currently I'm reading American Gods from Neil Gaiman, my favorite sci-fi author but I couldn't resist to buy On the Road from Jack Kerouac, have you read it? I've heard amazing things, I'll tell you if it's as good as they say. When I was about to pay I found myself checking Mags! a book about independent magazine design and damn, it's good. From typography to photography and little interviews with each editor, this book is a hidden jewel for editorial geeks as myself. Blend, Fan the Fire, K and even Picnic are some of the magazines featured. Although I would have loved it to be more extensive with the catalog it's still a great acquisition. Thought I should share a preview...

FNO: The Recap II

Finally here's the second part of this FNO story... it was such a marvelous night, I want to congratulate the Vogue team, this was the best first step you could take towards making the FNO a regular event in Mexico City that promotes this special approach to fashion. As the motto said, "pusimos a Méxio de moda" and I hope dearly we keep on doing it.

---
From the moment we arrived we realized that Antara was the place to be, there was a lot of movement and a lot of events in each store. Zara had a full size print of a Vogue magazine where you could take your picture; Pull & Bear was full to the top since it was the only store with discounts; Bershka and Bloom had DJ's and were giving tequila and vodka drinks; Massimo Dutti had martinis and a polaroid shoot where NeonDelirium, FashionBeatsParis & me took a picture. Guess had a photobooth which was the most fun thing ever! We met too with Rene from heARTbeat and Andy Sotomayor and had the best time taking pictures at the photobooth.

Even though there was this party mood in the air, it would have been better if more shops included the discount promotion. It certainly worked for the Inditex group and I'm pretty sure it would work as well with more expensive brands if there were special and once in a lifetime promotions.

We decided to finally move to Masaryk to the party at Common People. I'd never gone there and was amazed by the design of the store, the decor, the magazines, everything. I'm saving for that claw necklace I saw... Sadly, when we arrived the cocktail was dying and the party at the roof was very crowded. That was our cue to go, we were pretty tired from going from one side of the city to the other but certainly had the best time.

FNO talks: The Recap

Wow, FNO was really an amazing experience. Did you have fun? I tried to post this yesterday, but you can imagine how tired I was and I actually got sick... but finally here it is, the recap!

The night started at Palacio de Hierro in Perisur. I arrived a little past 7 and there was a lot of movement thanks to the photoshoot that was taking place at the entrance with John Paul Ospina, E! Entertainment's anchor. I met with Kelly Talamas, Fashion Editor of Vogue Mexico, Mrs. Vavavoom who was a pleasure to meet, and Nina, a Vogue's fashion coordinator back in Miami's office. After meeting them we went from one place to another, from the shoot, to the dressing rooms to Kelly's Editor's Choice to the Palacio's fashion show - quite the tour!

While doing all this Kelly told me why she have chosen that style for her Choice, she's got the rock spirit and wanted to print that in the outfit. It was accesible in terms of fashion and it had such a kick ass style that I totally loved. Also, Mrs. Vavavoom (Her name is Karla as well) told me about her work in the magazine and how she feels so lucky to be part of such an amazing team. It was very inspiring and it really leaves you thinking that hard work and good timing are the formula for your dream job.

After that we went to the fashion show where Eva arrived, and later on she sang with Denisse from Belanova at Ferragamo. It was awesome, it's certainly one of the things you don't expect to happen. Also I had the chance to photograph actress Alejandra Barros for Estee Lauder, she's so beautiful!

I said goodbye to Vogue's team and met with my friends at Antara where we drank martinis, ate cupcakes and took a lot of pictures. I'll tell you more about it on part II... stay tuned!

FNO talks: what to wear

Vogue Fashion's Night Out is just around the corner and bloggers and icons are wondering what to wear. This just happen to be the perfect ocassion to dress up and go out with your favorite look. Have you thought about it? Do you already have your dress to impress look? Tell me about it! Don't forget there will be photographers and street style blogs (myself included) taking pictures to people with the most unique style.
If you still don't have any clue on what to wear, here are five basic ideas from our favorite street style blogs you might use as inspiration and look incredibly chic on time. But remember, be your best dressed version of yourself!

B/W with hints of neon
Spice up your look with the basic rule of attraction, bright colors. The long dress with the bows is perfect but it's not the average dress everyone has in their closet... better use the same silhouette or palette of colors and don't forget the pink and yellow shades of neon in the accessories.

Boots & Sweatshirt for the cold
Something is telling me either it's going to rain on Thursday or it will be as chilly as hell. In any case, be prepared with some tights or high boots. A sweatshirt with a leather skirt is an A-list combination as Taylor Tomasi Hill shows us; if it's with animal motifs that definitely means bonus points.

See through and creepers
This would be my perfect look... with heels. But some girls just can't handle the pain and for those situations the creepers and oxfords are quite the choice for comfort. Combine them with a see through skirt or dress with pleated texture and don't forget the extra touch with some edgy shades.

 Burgundy & Blue
This is some wicked combination of colors Hanneli wore with a tight mini skirt and a long sleeved shirt. The matching shoes and the little purse in baby blue just makes it better. This outfit is totally perfect in case there's a sunny day, but remember to have an extra pair of shoes, walking is going to be a must this FNO and you don't want blisters in the middle of the afternoo.

 Sixties & Glam
Can't tell you how much I love this blouse, it's all about the shoulders! In case you don't have one like that don't worry, the important thing here is the loose clothes and the pastel colors... oh and of course! the sixties vibes of the pants. These wide leg trousers are great for comfort and for the cold weather, besides you can use your most comfy boots or shoes and no one will tell.

What's inspiring you for Thursday? What will you wear?
